Copyright and graffiti are hot in the courts today. In the latest filing, street artist Jamie Mitchel Kosse has filed a federal copyright suit against pop sensation Kiesza and Universal Music Group for the unauthorized depiction of his graffiti in a music video for the song Hideaway. Kosse, who goes by the name of Jamie Hef, claims that the singer infringed his work to enhance her street cred. Interestingly, other media companies, such as ABC and CBS, negotiated licensing rights with Kosse on other projects.
